Tips for Successful Winter Testing with MAP

Six Improvements to Your MAP Experience 
To ensure a positive winter testing experience, we’ve made many improvements to MAP® assessments and reports. Improvements include:
  • Memory and resources usage of TestTaker has been reduced by approximately 20% to improve performance on all platforms, especially older computers and mobile devices.
  • The help area on the MARC homepage has been enhanced with links to resources that help you select and understand reports.
  • Mac® OS X Mavericks (10.9) and Windows 8.1 are now test platform options.
  • The student experience when taking the multimedia-rich MPG assessment on Chromebooks® has been greatly improved. The testing experience on older Macs has also been improved.
  • A messaging system has been added that allows us to provide status alerts at the top of pages in MARC.
  • An update has been released to reduce occurrences of the proctor console being out of synch with a student.


Whitelisting to Enhance MAP Performance

We recommend that every partner whitelist * on equipment that sits between the testing machine and NWEA servers. Whitelisting improves test functionality, especially if your district or school has experienced intermittent slowness, white screens, or the inability to click on various buttons when testing.

Examples of equipment include, but are not limited to, firewalls (hardware and software), content filters, and proxy servers/caching.

Once * is whitelisted, please allow the changes to propagate throughout your equipment. If you are uncertain about whether * is whitelisted, please contact your district/school technical support team to check these settings.

Winter Test Projection

It's getting to be that time again. NWEA partners everywhere are preparing for winter testing, and looking forward to the insights they'll gain from MAP  assessment data.

Based on our partners’ activity, we have projected that the busiest times for winter testing with MAP will be during the week of January 13-17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. EST.

Maintenance Window

Web-Based MAP will be unavailable from 8 p.m. (PT) on Saturday, December 28 until 3 a.m. (PT) on Tuesday, December 31 to allow us to perform end-of-year maintenance. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
